Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple
The hill shrine of Lakshmi Narasimha at Yadagirigutta, rebuilt in recent years on a greatly expanded scale.
Significance
The temple stands on a hillock at Yadagirigutta and is dedicated to Narasimha, the man-lion form of Vishnu, worshipped here with Lakshmi. It has long been among the most visited shrines in Telangana, particularly by devotees seeking relief from illness. In the years after the formation of Telangana the temple was taken up for a comprehensive reconstruction in dressed stone, greatly enlarging the complex and its approaches; the rebuilt temple was opened to pilgrims following that work.
The reconstruction changed the visitor experience substantially — the layout, the queue arrangements and the approach to the hill are all different from what older accounts describe. Treat any pre-reconstruction description of the site, including photographs, as out of date.
